CWMF Philosophy

Developed through the collaborative efforts of faculty at six greater Cincinnati area educational institutions, the CWMF Mission is to contribute to the cultural responsibilities of the community, to demonstrate devotion to visual and aural storytelling methods, and to improve the skills of all levels of collegiate participants.

2006 Festival

The First Annual College Weekend Movie Festival took place April 7-9, 2006.

Sixteen student teams representing six schools participated in writing, shooting, and editing a movie of six minutes or less in only three days.

The event started at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 6. Team leaders were assigned a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue that had to be incorporated into their movie. Also, each team randomly selected a movie genre for their production. (Other CWMF guidelines are on the Documentation page.)

Teams had to deliver their finished movie by 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 9.

All sixteen teams completed the task. Their movies will be screened on April 21.

A panel of industry professionals commented on the student movies and awarded Judges’ Choice. Other awards to be given include Audience Choice, Audience Runner up and Excellence in Pre-production.
